CI+ will allow CI Plus compatible consumer electronice devices, such as Integrated Digital Televisions and Set Top Boxes, access to a wide range of Pay TV Services via plug-in CI Plus Modules wherever the CI Plus Technology is supported by the local Pay TV Provider.
1. Why do I need CI Plus? What are the benefits?
l To be compatible with future CI Plus modules that can deliver enhanced functionality, such as High Definition pay TV, in conjunction with pay TV operators.
l In the case of subscribers of services from CI Plus operators, they will have the opportunity to buy TV and Recording devices with built in functionality. They do not need STBs any more, so the usability of watching/recording content provided by the operator will become much more user-friendly.
2. Which keys/certificates will be needed for development/production and from where will we get them?

3. What are the robustness rules requirements?
l They are included as Exhibits in the Device Interim License Agreement.
4. What are the main features of CI Plus?
l CI Plus essentially adds link encryption to the descrambled pay TV content in its path back to the host, and an enhanced user interface to the existing DVB-CI specification.
l The main modification points for existing receivers are:
l Addition of an AES descrambler block .
l Addition of a CI Plus browser for enhanced UI.
5. What is the benefit from an implementers point of view?
l The system enables at least the same level of content security as existing embedded solutions, while providing an enhanced UI to enable customised display of service availability.
l It provides the tools for the CE manufacturers to create attractive and differentiated products for the horizontal market, while still enabling operator customisation of the content offering.
6. Will CI Plus receivers be compatible with the original CI modules?
l The specification is designed to be fully backward compatible. All existing CI modules in the market should work with CI Plus products.
