With many consumers located in marginal coverage areas and using low-gain aerials, ensuring good RF performance is vital for a positive user experience.

DVB-T Conformance Testing

We provide independent testing for the main DVB-T standards including UK D-Book, NorDig, E-Book, Italian DGTVi, Australian AS 4933 and other national standards including operator specifications. Our confidential and professional testing services ensure receivers are fully conformant.

UK D-Book DVB-T and DVB-T2

Digital TV Labs uses fully automated Rohde & Schwarz equipment for testing to the latest version of the UK DTG D-Book. Our reports are suitable for Digital Tick certification from Digital UK.

NorDig 2.0, Boxer and RiksTV DVB-T and DVB-T2

We test to the latest NorDig specification including pre-certification for Boxer (Sweden) and RiksTV (Norway).

Wider Europe - DGTVi and E-Book

Not all the modes and frequencies used in Europe are covered by the D-Book and NorDig specifications. We have developed a test specification that fully covers these modes as defined in E-Book, the Italian DGTVi specification, other national specifications and by DVB-T operators.

MBRAI Mobile DVB-T and DVB-H

We test to MBRAI 2.0 covering Terminal Category b1 (portable TV), Terminal Category b2 (pocketable TV) and Terminal Category C (mobile handset) with GSM and mobile channel testing.

Indoor and Portable Antennae Testing and Benchmarking Service

Many consumers access their DTT services through indoor antennae and increasingly through portable devices with a built-in aerial such as notepad devices. As the signal levels are attenuated within buildings resulting in a weak signal, the quality of the antennae is crucial to a good user experience. Up to now, there has been no professional, independent service to test and benchmark aerials. Digital TV Labs has a long experience of terrestrial RF testing and has now extended testing to cover these devices using its comprehensive test equipment within an anechoic test facility. Testing includes:

  ♦  Reference Aerial Benchmark Data
  ♦  Sensitivity VHF/UHF
  ♦  Directivity
  ♦  Interference Rejection
  ♦  Return Loss
  ♦  Cross-polarization Rejection

Custom and Pre-Tests

We work closely with our clients on specific custom tests. We also conduct pre-tests to validate core functionality prior to a full test.

Variety of Platforms

We are familiar with a wide variety of platforms from silicon tuners, demodulators, reference platforms, set top boxes and integrated digital TVs.

Additional Tests

Our extensive experience of testing DVB-T products has shown that the main testing specifications do not provide a comprehensive testing coverage. Digital TV Labs conducts additional tests such as sensitivity sweeps on the full channel range.

Reporting

Our detailed and exacting reports clearly show the results from each test and if the performance level was achieved. Additionally, we will benchmark the testing results against industry average performance.

Independent and Confidential

As an independent lab, our reports are used by many companies wishing to obtain impartial evidence of product performance. Confidentiality is an integral part of any Digital TV Labs package, ensuring that all client information is kept strictly confidential.

Real Field Impairments

Impairments are distortion of the desired signal that can reduce receiver performance, these can include interference and echoes. Testing specifications such as NorDig and D-Book only test for a single impairment at any one time, whereas in reality a receiver will be confronted with a combination of impairments. We also recommend the use of our Field Testing or Virtual Field Testing services in addition to lab testing in order to guarantee the best performance in real world conditions.
